Philosophy & Approach

JoAnn joined Stephens Private Client Group in 2010, after joining the industry in 2008, following her career as a teacher. She brings sound, practiced counsel into each client relationship. JoAnn says, “It is a tremendous honor to serve as the trusted consultant to my clients. I draw upon the skill set developed during my years as a teacher to communicate succinctly and clearly with my clients and every member of their family so that they better understand our plan to achieve all of their goals, no matter how big or small.”

JoAnn is supported by her registered client associate, Ashley Blalock, who has more than 20 years of experience.

Experience & Education

Prior to joining Stephens, JoAnn was a financial advisor at Smith Barney Inc. and its successor Morgan Stanley. JoAnn received an AB in Sociology from Princeton University. She also attended Stephens’ advanced wealth management program, Stephens University, at Wake Forest University.

She is a Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM (CRPC®). This designation from the College for Financial Planning signifies that JoAnn has met initial and on-going experience, ethical education, and examination requirements for the retirement planning process, including meeting multiple financial objectives, sources of retirement income, personal savings, employer-sponsored retirement plans, retirement cash flow, asset management, estate planning, and more.

Personal

An active community volunteer, JoAnn has served in a variety of capacities at Salem Montessori School, most notably having served on their Board for six years and as Board Chair for three, during which time she helped to oversee the successful expansion of an elementary program. Other leadership experiences include serving on the Board of Kaleideum, a children’s museum in Winston-Salem, for seven years, and Susan G. Komen of Northwest North Carolina for six years.

JoAnn and her husband, Brent, have twin girls, Zoe and Madeline. While most of her free time is spent with her family, JoAnn also enjoys playing tennis, traveling and reading novels.
