Garrett Cates joined Stephens Insurance in 2024 as an Underwriting Associate in the Life & Health division. In this role, he analyzes employer benefits, including price projections and claims, and engages in risk evaluations based on factors such as benefit type, demographics, industry, and group of employees.
Prior to Stephens, Cates proactively anticipated business needs and executed procurement of goods, services, and expenses on behalf of the Chemistry department at an R1 Research University and provided monthly grant budget tracking spreadsheets to research faculty to ensure spending was within budgetary limits and federal compliance. He also completed commercial real estate loan reviews and credit analysis and presented the findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
Cates earned an MBA from Texas State University and a BS in Economics from Texas A&M University. He holds his Texas Life & Health License.
